Spring Wreath Tutorial

I've been seeing these super cute spring wreaths everywhere, but I think they are way over priced.  So I decided to venture out and make my own wreath from scratch!  I did not buy a single thing for this project.  I just used things from nature and stuff I already had.

Here is how I made it.

1. I went for a walk around the neighborhood and clipped some vines.  They were hanging down into the street by an abandoned house, so I don't think anyone will mind :)  Then I soaked them in water (the vines were long so I stuck them in the bathtub) for about 30 minutes to make them more pliable.

2.  I bunched the vines together and curved them into a circle.  I tied the ends together with braiding cord.  If you don't happen to have braiding cord, twine or any kind of heavy string should work fine.

3.  I wrapped the cord around the vines to hold them together.  After winding all the way around, I tied it off and wala- a wreath is formed!

4.  Next I gathered up some acorns lying around my complex.  I washed them, painted them, and sprayed them with Krylon Matt Finish to protect them.

5.  To finish it off, I hot glued the acorns and some ribbon on and hung it on my door.  And there you have it, a spring wreath that cost me absolutely nothing!  Yay!
